Lea Williams heads to the Europe Drum Show this October

‘Ever since I could remember, I would create art based on what I loved, what sparked my imagination. I guess you could call it tribute art or fan art. It is just a natural thing as if it was meant to be. Fast forward all the grown-up stuff in between then and now and that’s exactly what I still do, but you see now I know why.

I understand your passions. I get the way you feel. I have been with you in a queue from 4am to get that spot on the barrier at the front of a gig, soaking up the warmth of the people who become lifelong friends through mutual love. I saw your face when your idol glanced in your direction and threw you a smile with a wink of an eye. I felt the way your whole body exploded with the rhythm, eyes as wide as saucers and your heart beating so hard and fast it could of jumped out of your chest on its own and joined your rocking that barrier. The adrenaline rush when you saw your band reunited after what felt like a lifetime apart.

I shared your joy when you found them and hung their posters on your bedroom wall, scrawled their names on your school pencil case. You made a promise to grow old with them,, I cried with you when they passed. I understand you, that feeling of belonging to a world that brings you so much pleasure and ignites you.

This is more than creating something because it’s possible. It’s a lifestyle, it’s who you are. It’s a moment in time that only ever exists for you, because that’s me too.’
