COLLINGWOOD CYMBALS TO EXHIBIT AT THE UK DRUM SHOW 2026!

Dave Collingwood (Collingwood Cymbals) is one of the world’s leading independent cymbalsmiths, and the only one offering ‘Make Your Own Cymbal’ experiences and in-depth training for cymbal-makers, both online and in-person.

Dave’s cymbal-making techniques and theories are 100% self-taught through nearly 15 years of continued  trial and error. Each of his handmade cymbals is an experiment and opportunity to explore deeper the ways to manipulate metal to produce sound, the aim being to offer cymbals that possess musicality, dynamics and character.

For the past 5 years Dave has been building an online cymbalsmith community in the form of the Collingwood Cymbals Patreon membership, where anyone interested in learning the craft, to whatever degree, can gather to learn from the 500+ video tutorials, interviews and insights, and come together in group meetings, events and training opportunities.

Dave teaches the majority of the world’s active cymbal-makers via regular online meetings and in-person sessions. He welcomes visitors to his workshop in Bristol for a day or days to help new learners understand the basics, or work with experienced artisans to bring new ideas and challenges into their learning path.

Dave also travels worldwide to teach his methods and help with workshop builds, and has done so across Europe and the USA, visiting cymbal makers in places such as Madrid, Edinburgh, New York and Hawaii.

In 2023 Dave was invited to the Chicago Drum Show for the first ever ‘Meet the Smiths’ event, being interviewed by Steve Maxwell Jr. of Chicago’s famous Maxwell Drums. Building upon this, Dave teamed up with Timothy Roberts (Reverie Cymbals) to present the world’s first Indie Cymbalsmith Summit at Chicago in 2025, which was a great success.

Dave and Tim have plenty in the pipeline to be announced which will bring events and resources to the public to make cymbalsmithing more accessible than ever.
