See Alfie on Sunday at 14:40 on the Main Stage Mini
My name is Alfie. I am 17 and from Southsea, Portsmouth. I’ve been playing drums for four years now, and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. My drumming journey didn’t come from a musical family background (like lots of people)—because there is none—but rather from a love of noise. At one point, I tried learning the guitar, but it was just too painful; I had blisters everywhere!
In 2025, I was selected as one of the Top 10 UK Young Drummers of the Year. It was an incredible experience and a real privilege to be part of.
I am regularly inspired by some of my favourite drummers: Keith Carlock, Ofri Nehemya, Stanton Moore, Elvin Jones, and Tony Williams, to name a few. All of them use traditional grip—my preferred grip as well. I’ve spent many hours watching, transcribing, and replicating their playing in order to push myself to grow both musically and technically.
I listen to all genres of music—from Led Zeppelin to The Buddy Rich Big Band and Tina Turner. This wide range of listening has been key to my progress. I’ve come to appreciate all styles of drumming, and I often “steal” little elements from each one, even if it’s not music I typically enjoy.
Although I’ve only been playing for FOUR years, I’ve gained considerable experience in that time. I’ve filled in for my drum teacher at paid gigs and performed at local venues with my band and through school.

Thank you and I very much look forward to seeing you there at 14:40 on Sunday!
