digitalDrummer magazine

digitalDrummer was founded in 2010 by journalist and drummer Allan Leibowitz to explore the world of electronic percussion overlooked by mainstream drum and music media.

The free magazine features respected independent reviews of the latest gear, coverage of new products, profiles of leading e-drummers and practical articles to help readers choose, set up and use electronic drums.

digitalDrummer’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards are held in high regard by the major manufacturers and by legions of readers who vote for the best products, software, retail outlets and the coveted E-drummer of the Year.

The magazine is available online globally – totally free – and is augmented by a monthly newsletter and an active Facebook group.

Allan Leibowitz

Award-winning journalist Allan Leibowitz is based in Brisbane, Australia, but has attended music industry events around the world – as a delegate, journalist and presenter. A gigging drummer, like many, he discovered electronic drums when he returned to drumming later in life and had to address noise control – and avoid disturbing his family and neighbours. Unable to find authoritative advice or independent reviews in the magazines at the time (besides those he had written!), he founded his own magazine and has continued to grow the publication.

Allan has reviewed most of the gear around today and has advised e-drum companies and beta-tested some significant product developments.
He continues to use e-drums for home practice, band rehearsals, artist collaborations and live performance, drawing from his extensive collection of instruments from manufacturers large and small.

Besides his passion for drumming (especially electronic), Allan has enjoyed a parallel career in business journalism, picking up awards for motoring writing, travel writing and business event organisation. He has produced conferences on a range of subjects, from small business to procurement and business travel – and has presented at events around the world.
