Paul Glover is a drummer and percussionist whose career spans over 30 years. Known for his versatility and musical sensitivity, he has performed and toured across the UK, Europe, and the US, appearing at major festivals including Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Bestival, and Secret Garden Party, alongside numerous national radio and television performances.

Paul’s first professional break came in 2006 with electro-pop artist Mr Fogg, giving him early opportunities to play major UK festivals and notable venues, and to perform live on national radio, including the Janice Long Show on BBC Radio 2. That same year he also became a full member of progressive electronic-rock band Pure Reason Revolution, recording and touring with them across releases on Sony-BMG and Superball Music/InsideOut Music, including extensive touring of the UK, Europe, and the US.

In 2011 Paul took up the drum seat for Scroobius Pip, one of the UK’s leading spoken-word and hip-hop artists and founder of Speech Development Records. With Pip and the Distraction Pieces Band, he enjoyed sold-out tours across the UK and Ireland, extensive European touring, and appearances at some of the UK and Ireland’s largest festivals, including Reading & Leeds, Secret Garden Party, Kendal Calling, and Bestival. In 2014 he toured the UK and Ireland with respected American hip-hop artist B. Dolan of Sage Francis’s Strange Famous Records, as part of The Speech Development Records Tour.
In 2013 Paul joined dual-drummer alt-rock super group Red Kite, fronted by ex-Cooper Temple Clause guitarist and singer Dan Fisher. The band earned a reputation as an exciting and ferocious live act and released their debut album ‘Songs For Crow’ in 2014. That same year, he played prestigious venues and folk festival shows with BBC Award-winning folk artist Lisa Knapp, demonstrating his ability to adapt across genres.

From 2014 to 2017 Paul was the live drummer for Tiny Giant, the project formed by Chloe Alper with MOBO and Grammy-nominated engineer Mat Collis. The band was championed by BBC Introducing and Music Week, played on numerous national radio stations, was reviewed in publications including NME and Vanity Fair, and was nominated as ‘Best Newcomers’ in the Classic Rock Magazine readers’ poll.

Paul stepped into band leadership in 2017 with the experimental jazz-funk project The Definite Collective, releasing their debut EP ‘Serpent Stones’ in 2018.

In 2020, he formed the Rich Meehan Trio with composer Richard Meehan, taking on the roles of manager, co-producer, and drummer. It marked his first release as a band manager, and the trio’s debut single ‘Prelude’ was named Track of the Week on Jazz FM’s ‘Dinner Time Jazz’ (Mark Walker) in May 2022, with further support from Jazz FM and BBC Introducing.

Today Paul works as an independent drummer, artist, and session player. He played percussion on Marisa & the Moths’ album What Doesn’t Kill You, which reached No.1 on the Official UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart. He drums for The Lily Beck Band and leads his own projects: The Twilight Showband, Twilight DJ Live, and most recently the Mulberry Earls Mini Big Band. Equally at home behind the drum kit or front-of-stage on percussion, his dynamic live work, whether alongside a DJ or within a full live ensemble, combines groove, flair, and showmanship to create a memorable experience for every audience.

Throughout his career, Paul has worked both live and in the studio with many other artists, bands, and projects, including Izo FitzRoy, The Caligaris, Siobhan O’Flaherty Hilder, Liam Barnes, Leah Kardos, Worgie, The Great Planes, Fleur Stevenson, Hugh Turner, Amber and Professors, Honey Blood, Reading University Big Band, The Roy Bailey Big Band, and his own jazz band The Hengist Quartet, among many, many more.

A graduate of the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Paul studied for many years with drumming legend Bob Armstrong, one of the UK’s leading drum tutors. Now a seasoned educator himself, Paul has two decades of teaching experience across all ages and abilities; his approach has always been comprehensive and bottom-up, giving players a structured framework in which to build confidence and develop their playing. Whether performing, recording, or leading a band, Paul brings professionalism, energy, and a deep well of experience to everything he does.
