Since 2009, Jay Weinberg has established himself as one of the most recognisable and respected drummers in rock, metal, punk and hardcore, serving as the rhythmic backbone and driving force behind some of the most iconic and genre-defining artists in modern music. His credits include Slipknot, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Suicidal Tendencies, Kvelertak, Against Me!, Infectious Grooves and Madball, among many others.

Originally from New Jersey and based in Nashville, Tennessee for the past decade, Weinberg’s career has earned him numerous year-end accolades from Modern Drummer, MusicRadar / Rhythm, Loudwire and Drumeo, including “Best Metal Drummer,” “Punk / Alternative Drummer of the Year,” “#1 Rock Drummer,” “Drummer of the Year” and “Drum Recording of the Year.” He has also received four GRAMMY nominations and contributed to three Billboard chart-topping records, including Slipknot’s .5: The Gray Chapter and We Are Not Your Kind, both of which reached No. 1, and The End, So Far, which peaked at No. 2.

Between touring stadiums with Metallica on their 2025 M72 World Tour alongside Suicidal Tendencies and bringing his Loyal to the Craft drum clinics to classrooms, clubs and theatres, Weinberg has continued to explore new creative territory. His work throughout 2026 has highlighted his talents far beyond the drum kit, embracing his skills as a guitarist, bassist, composer, producer and visual artist.

This year has already seen the release of the critically acclaimed album The Ringing Bell with death metal/hardcore band Fuming Mouth, alongside a growing collection of singles released under his own name. These collaborations feature artists from Deafheaven, Code Orange, Softcult and Fotocrime, with more releases on the way.

As Weinberg embarks on what he describes as an “equally daunting yet exciting creative rebirth,” 2026 will also see the completion of debut albums from his eponymous solo project and Portraits of an Apparition, a collaborative project with Nashville-based noise artist Argus.

“I’ve been working on this material in private for quite a long time; collaborations where I’m playing all the instruments, writing and playing with friends and musical heroes with whom I’ve always wanted to work. It’s different than anything I’ve ever done, and I’m incredibly excited that it’s all finally making its way across the finish line.”
