Proficient, intentional, and consistent are more than words—they define Jerrod “J-Rod” Sullivan’s approach to both music and life.
Born in 1992, J-Rod discovered his passion for music at just two years old, turning his mother’s pots and pans into his very first drum kit. He later began playing drums in church, where he developed his musical foundation and gained invaluable experience accompanying live musicians week after week. That early environment shaped his sense of timing, feel, and musicality while fueling an obsession with mastering his craft. As his passion grew, he taught himself drums, bass guitar, and music production, immersing himself in a wide range of musical styles.
In 2006, J-Rod uploaded his first YouTube video, where the overwhelming encouragement he received confirmed that his purpose extended beyond performing—it was also to educate and inspire. Determined to become the best musician he could be, he enrolled at the Atlanta Institute of Music, graduating in 2012. The following year, he joined The 4 Korners, further establishing himself as both a performer and creative artist.
Today, J-Rod has built a global community of more than 900K followers across social media. His influence extends far beyond viral videos, attracting musicians worldwide through his authentic approach to musicianship, professionalism, and musical excellence.
Throughout his career, J-Rod has performed and collaborated with world-renowned artists including Janet Jackson, Jeffrey Osborne, Avery Sunshine, Lalah Hathaway, Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, and many others. He currently serves as the drummer for Janet Jackson, Jeffrey Osborne, and The 4 Korners, performing on some of the world’s biggest stages while continuing to inspire the next generation of musicians through education, content creation, and live performance.
Whether performing in arenas, teaching online, or creating music, J-Rod’s mission remains the same: to help musicians reach their highest potential through intentional practice, musical excellence, and unwavering dedication. His career is proof that when preparation meets passion, extraordinary opportunities follow.
