I’m a 12-year-old drummer who rediscovered my passion for drumming just over a year ago. While visiting a secondary school open evening for my sister, I was drawn to the drum kit in the music department. A school band was playing, and the drummer invited me to have a turn. As soon as I started playing, it felt natural — like riding a bike. The crowd’s huge applause gave me the confidence and excitement to start drumming seriously again.

Music has always been a big part of my life. From the age of two, I was playing along to songs with pots, pans, and wooden spoons, and I tried instruments like the ukulele and guitar, but drums always felt the most natural to me. I got my first junior drum kit at three. By the age of four, football soon took over my time, which was a fun journey. I played at a high level with a stint at a Premier League Academy before being released, which unexpectedly gave me the chance to return to drumming. Everything happens for a reason!

After the school open night, I ended up digging my old kit out of the loft and bodging it back together. I started teaching myself how to play from YouTube videos until March 2026. I then began lessons with an amazing drummer/teacher, and recently started working on my grades. Since then, I’ve performed regularly at open mic nights, playing with musicians of different ages and styles, including Reggae, Blues, Rock & Punk, which has helped me grow as a drummer massively. I’ve also built a strong following on social media, which I am grateful for, as I enjoy posting videos of my progression as I learn songs and seeing the progress as I improve them. I like to play songs as close to the original, but add in my own touches to change the sound and feel of them.

I am incredibly grateful to have been selected to perform at the UK Drum Show alongside talented young drummers from around the world, and to get to showcase what I am as a drummer.

I especially enjoy playing 90s indie, and Britpop such as Stone Roses, The Verve, Arctic Monkeys & Oasis, and my biggest inspirations include Matt Helders, Dave Grohl, and Chad Smith. I just love the way they play! I have some inspirations that aren’t as famous as them, but they put so much into me as a drummer, which allows me to have my own style, and their talent inspires me every day! I love drum kits and all different drum gear, and any given chance, I will be playing around with my set up and discovering how I can change how the kit sounds.

My dream is to become the drummer in a successful indie band and tour the world doing what I love most.
