See Emma on Saturday at 10.00 in the Drum Dog Experience Room
Powerhouse drummer Emma Taylor will be sharing tips, offering advice and taking your questions in a relaxed, open session. It is a chance to get practical guidance straight from one of the most engaging drum educators around, and to ask the things you have always wanted to ask. It’s easy to see why her bite-sized TikTok lessons rack up so many views given her natural talent for teaching, fantastic drumming ability, and personable charm.
That gift for teaching has a serious foundation behind it. Emma’s journey began at six, when her grandparents gifted her a toy drum kit and unknowingly lit a lifelong passion. She started lessons at eight at the Earley Music Centre in Reading, immersing herself in everything from orchestral to jazz, rock and pop, and building the versatility that still defines her playing. In 2016 she took up a degree in Popular Music Performance at the Academy of Contemporary Music, graduating with first-class honours in 2019.
It was TikTok that truly unlocked her confidence. Sharing fast-paced, educational videos, she has built a following of nearly half a million on her page sounds_like_emma. Her playing has taken her into collaborations with Ilona Mahieu, rock artist Kaima and indie folk artist Bryony Dunn, alongside a recent UK tour supporting When Rivers Meet. She is also Content Manager for Hit Like A Girl’s StickTogether initiative and has performed a masterclass on the HLAG stage at the UK Drum Show.
Come with your questions and an open mind, because Emma’s session is a genuinely welcoming way to learn.
