See Tara on Saturday at 13:00 on the Main Stage Mini
Tara’s journey into drumming started when she was 3 years old, laying the groundwork for a lifelong passion for music.
Tara shows a lot of versatility in her playing with a repertoire that spans instruments such as the drum kit, tabla, timpani, and bongos. She recently won the prestigious contemporary Montgomery competition at her school. Moreover, having achieved Grade 8 from both Trinity and Rock School exam boards, Tara continues to push the boundaries of her capability. Notable highlights of her journey include being selected as a finalist in the Young Drummer of the Year competition in 2022, and performing “Sing Sing Sing” at Cadogan Hall alongside her Big Band ensemble.
She finds joy in a variety of musical genres, including Jazz, Latin, and Funk. Alongside her passion for these styles, she holds the role of lead snare drummer in the Corps of Drums at her school. Tara also enjoys improvising to the lively rhythms of Bollywood and Afrobeat music, often incorporating the tabla to add a unique twist to her performances. She holds the esteemed position of lead drummer in various ensembles including the Big Band, Concert Band, and Orchestra.
Tara is in awe of and inspired by many drummers, particularly Femi Koleoso, David Garabaldi, Anika Nilles, Dexter Hercules, and Steve Gadd. She also draws inspiration from musicians, including A.R. Rahman and Ezra Collective.
Tara is really excited for her upcoming performance at the UK Drum Show, where she’ll have the chance to showcase her diverse styles and passion for drumming.
