See Katie on Saturday at 15:00 on the Main Stage Mini
Hey! I’m Katie, an 18-year-old drummer from Scotland. I can’t believe I get to say this… I will be performing on the Main Stage Mini at the UK Drum Show 2024!!!
I only started playing the drums when I was 16, and so far, it’s been a crazy journey. From the moment I sat down behind the kit at my first lesson, I’ve been absolutely obsessed. Over the last two years I have progressed very quickly, completing the Trinity College London Rock and Pop gradings one through five, and I am currently working on grade 6. I attend biweekly lessons at the Scottish renowned Drum Academy under the wisdom of professional drummer Patricia Crozier. I was also chosen recently to feature in a student profile to represent Drum Academy.
I am the drummer for the female rock-pop band, The Marches. Looking to be one of the most promising female acts of the moment, we have a summer full of gigs lined up across Scotland. We will be playing some amazing venues, such as the famed King Tut’s Wah-Wah Hut in Glasgow. Heavily inspired by some of the greatest female-fronted bands of the past, Fleetwood Mac and The Bangles just to name a couple, I absolutely love writing and playing drums in our band. We have big intentions of adding our name to the list of inspiring female artists. We are also in the process of recording our first album, with our first single set to be released very soon!
Alongside my drumming career, I am currently studying a Master’s degree in Chemistry at the prestigious University of Glasgow. I love university life, and I will be pursuing a career in Chemistry where I intend to make a difference to the world.
I feel so thankful for the amazing opportunities I’ve been given in my drumming career so far. To perform on the Main Stage Mini is absolutely a dream come true. I’m so excited and honoured to say… see you at the UK Drum Show!!!
