Biography
Joe Clegg is a musical director, mix engineer, sample label owner, educator, session musician and owner of the live music production company Artclub Live. Joe and his team have worked on performances, tours and broadcast mixes for artists as diverse as Mumford & Sons, Bastille, Clean Bandit and Maggie Rogers, contributing to thousands of shows at global headline level.
As the drummer and musical director for Ellie Goulding (2009-2020), Joe forged a path in the deployment of performance technology at an arena level show, and pioneered the use of software in on-stage systems. With Ellie, Joe performed over two thousand shows, appeared on every major TV and radio show in the world, working with Ellie from her first club show in 2009 to world arena tours in 2016. Joe played on three of Ellie’s studio albums, alongside a number of live releases.
In 2019 Joe released his debut educational video series, ‘Ableton Live for Drummers,’ providing drummers with insight into the tools required to operate on a modern pop show. Joe co-authored with Roland the 2023 Hybrid Drums degree module at the Academy of Contemporary Music, leading to the creation of a live music industry education platform called ‘Learn Live Music.’
