See Alex on Sunday at 11:40 on the Main Stage Mini
Eleven-year-old Alex is a self-taught drummer, living in Hull, East Yorkshire. Inspired by the legendary Clem Burke (Blondie), Alex first picked up his sticks and learnt the basics on an electronic kit just three years ago. Knowing he’d found the instrument he loved, he saved hard, and with a little help from mum and dad, he recently purchased his own acoustic kit, and practices daily at home.
Alex just loves music – full stop! He has a wide-ranging playlist, including rock, pop, Motown and musicals, and has a particular love for 80s classics. Loving the 80s, Alex asked for tickets to see Level 42, and was blown away by the skills of Pete Ray Biggin – now another big favourite and inspiration.
At his primary school year 6 leavers’ performance, Alex played to a drumless track of ‘Hanging on the Telephone’ by Blondie. The video was seen by the amazing ‘Bootleg Blondie’ tribute band, which resulted in Alex joining them on stage to perform the track to a huge crowd in Cottingham.
Alex is looking forward to showcasing his talent at the UK Drum Show in Liverpool, a remarkable opportunity, and he hopes you enjoy his performance.
